Month of Love: Valentine's Day with Navin Kundra…. Hamesha!

♥ February is, undoubtedly, a month of love. To mark the shortest month of the year and the whole lot of love that is incorporated smack bang in the middle of it, I thought I would do something different on my blog. This will be a month that will be star-studded. From fellow writers to friends to some well-known names… they’re all stars in my eyes and they will be sharing a little about themselves (and their talent) with me – and with you (along with some Valentine’s fun thrown in for good measure!). ♥

He’s in no way a stranger to my blog. His is also a name many of my avid readers will be more than familiar with. Having sung a number of heart-warming tracks over the years, the gorgeous Navin Kundra agreed to share a whole load of lovey-dovey feelings with me today, on Valentine’s Day. It’s always wonderful to gain an insight into a person’s romantic self and who better than Navin who’s even released a special single to mark the occasion, aptly titled Hamesha! <Scroll down for free download>

♥ Everyone has a different thought about Valentine’s day. How do you feel about it?
I think it’s the most romantic day of the year and I’m a big fan of Valentine’s Day!  I believe that you should show love to those who mean the most to you all year round, but on Valentine’s Day, it’s nice to go the extra mile to make your loved one(s) feel more special.

♥ Do you believe in big gestures of love?
I do!  My biggest gestures of love to date are Tere Liye, Aaja and now Hamesha! (Smiles)

♥ Your idea of the perfect first date?
I think something as simple as cocktails and great food make for a perfect first date!  A first date should be about getting to know the other person, so the more time you spend talking to each other, the better.  Avoid the cinema or a bungee jump on a first date!

♥ If someone who is a friend of yours made a gesture towards you for Valentine’s Day, what would your reaction be? What would you do?
I think it takes a lot for someone to express their love to another person and they wouldn’t do so if they didn’t truly feel it.  I would be most flattered if that happened to me and I think being honest with the other person about your own feelings for them is the best way forward.  Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to tell that special someone that you haven’t had the guts to tell yet, how you truly feel about them…and my songs will definitely help create the perfect setting for you! (Winks)

♥ You perform often live at weddings for a couple’s first dance. What would be your personal choice for a first dance song? (And who would you like to perform it?)
I do and it’s one of the things I enjoy doing most of all.  I think the ‘first dance’ is a beautiful moment where two people have made a commitment to spend the rest of their lives together, and dancing together is symbolic of how the rest of their lives should be…full of grace, happiness, intimacy and love.  My choice for a first dance song?  I think I’ve just finished writing it and you will hear it VERY soon!

♥ Is there anything you would change about Valentine’s day?
Yes…I think Valentine’s Day is too far commercialised and associated with a partner, so for those who don’t have a partner yet, they can feel quite excluded and annoyed by it all.  I would like to make it more about showing love to any loved one…be it a member of your family or a friend – it shouldn’t have to be limited to a partner.

♥ What would be your favourite movie(s) for a date night?
I don’t think movies are such a great idea for a date night, but if I had to choose one it would be something like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge or a chick flick!  You have to keep her happy!  I used to think that horror movies would work for extra cuddles when she can’t bare to look at the screen anymore, but that theory is far from reality! (Laughs)

♥ Three words to describe your romantic style?
Indulgent, Selfless and Phantasmagorical!

♥ If you could serenade any woman (alive or dead) in the world, who would it be? And why?
I’m just looking forward to serenade my one and only…I know she’s out there somewhere!

♥ If you could give advice to a guy who is going to propose or express his love today, what would you tell him?
I would say: dude, if you really love her, don’t hold back because love is as precious as life.  Be confident and have no expectations.  Every woman likes to be complimented and for a moment like this, dress to impress.  The icing on the cake…and I would say this…is to have the right music and setting around you.  Pick up a free copy of my latest track Hamesha from my website and make your move!

If after reading that you’re still not ready, then let me do it for you with a special dedicated version of Tere Liye – log onto my website, type in her name, your name and your message to her, and I’ll do the rest!

I thank Navin for sharing his ‘love’ with me on my blog. I also wish him well for his new single, Hamesha.
