I’ve concluded that December is the worst month to eat healthy!

So my plan to blog once every fortnight flew out of the window pretty soon! This is due to one major thing… Christmas! December is definitely the worst month to watch what you eat with all the Christmas goodies and yummy food at parties. As a result, I decided to let these next few weeks be and then start afresh in January.

I haven’t completely fallen off the wagon though but just not holding back all the time on the indulgent treats. In the interim, I have been eating healthily most of the time. This includes, keeping my in-between meals snacking at a maximum of 300 calories and also keeping away from most of the white stuff – bread, pasta, rice. This is something I have done since last year, only eating these very rarely. I am going to try and up my high-fibre foods in January, and try to genuinely keep to 10,000 steps a day. Some days are just more difficult than others, as I am sure many will appreciate.

There’s one tip I will include this time and that is to try something you haven’t done before. I was always told how tasty quinoa is but I’ve never been a big fan. I discovered spelt and also pearl barley which are also good for you and I tend to opt for the latter. If you flavour it up with a little bit of tomato and then mix it in with salad consisting of lettuce, radish, cucumber and green pepper, along with either a little drizzle of olive oil or a healthy salad dressing, it is actually quite filling and tasty too. Next time I have it, I’ll take a picture and share!

Until next time… Happy indulging!
